Got excited during one of our activities? Do you want to do something socially and professional besides you studies? SCOPE|FOCUS provides students the opportunity to bring in their own, unique contribution by means of taking part in a committee and to be in charge of one of the many projects organized by our association. Become active within FOCUS and experience the other side of student life! As being part of a committee you will:
- Get hands-on experience in organizing
- Get in contact with the best companies

Committees we are recruiting for (deadline for subscription 18th of September):
German Accounting Tour (19th-21st February 2014)
This tour aims at introducing students into the world of accounting. The best students will be selected to visit a number of accounting firms located in Düsseldorf. Students have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in solving case studies, while giving the companies the optimal opportunity to get to know these students. Being part of the committee, you can check into incorporating recruitment lunches or dinners in the program.
Accounting Orientation Day (26th February 2014)
Since four years the AOD takes place at ‘sjiek kookpunt’ including a lecture by Leon Timmermans and Roger Meeuwissen, a case and a cooking workshop in the end. This day is specifically oriented towards first and second year students in order to introduce them to the field of accounting. Since this is merely an orientation event, no recruiters will be present.
Nederlandse Kantoren Dag (19th March 2014)
During this day, the ‘smaller’ accountancy firms will bring a visit to Maastricht. Last two years, the setup was a sort of pub crawl and afterwards a nice dinner. Three years ago, the NKD consisted of a speed date session, a Cocktail shaking event and a dinner. When you are organizing the NKD, you have the possibility to think of some interesting activity. Normally, we aim to get six companies in for this event.
International Financial Master Class (6th-13th April 2014)
The International Financial Master Class is a recruitment trip for 20 to 25 master students to any financial capital in the world. Last year the trip went to London, which turned out really nicely, but being a committee member you have the opportunity to check out other possibilities as well. The main challenge in this committee will be to convince companies to pay for your visit, even though they might not see anyone returning to their companies.
Big 4 Cycle (23rd April-14th May 2014)
The Big 4 Cycle is a great event, where all the Big Four companies will be visited during two Wednesdays. Two firms will be visited each day, which they will fill with a presentation, case, drinks, lunch or another nice activity. You will be discussing with the companies which programme would be most interesting for the students.
Belgium Tour (29th-30th April 2014)
The Belgium Tour is an event we are going to try out this year. We feel that there is a huge market to explore for us in Belgium, so the idea is to try to organize a recruitment trip to Brussels. In this trip, we will focus on going to multinationals. Since this is a new trip, you can start up from scratch, which is very challenging, but also gives you enough possibilities to make the trip however you want!
Finance and Control Tour Germany (7th-9th May 2014)
A select group of 25 students are given the possibility to check out the business life in Frankfurt. The tour’s targeted companies are banks and multinationals. The aim of the tour is to bring students closer to the fields of finance and controlling and to shop them different career opportunities at these companies.
Marketing Finance Battle (21st May 2014)
The Marketing Finance Battle is, next to the Maastricht Business Days, another event we share with SCOPE|3MA. This event is different from all the other events, since it includes a case competition instead of the regular workshops we do at companies. This case competition focuses on marketing finance students. As a committee member you will work closely together with the university. The idea is to have two companies instead of one company this year!
International Financial Orientation (20th-26th June 2014)
During this study trip 25 top students from the 2nd or 3rd bachelor year will visit a still unknown financial capital. During their visit, several companies will give workshops or presentations related to the theme of the trip. Maastricht University will also actively cooperate and attribute credits to students who participate. Cities which have been visited in previous years are Shanghai, New York, Hong Kong, Singapore, Chicago and Beijing.
Multimedia Committee (until February 2014)
The multimedia committee is responsible for helping out with our magazine, the INFOCUS, taking pictures at our events, developing our promotion strategy and even making promotional videos for some of our events. This committee switches bi-annually, so in February the team will be switched.
Social Activities Committee (until February 2014)
The Social Activities Committee makes sure that all the other active members have enough social events during the year. This includes not only parties such as the FOCUS on Wallstreet party, but also game nights, casino nights, BBQs and all the other creative activities you can think of!
