My name is Tom Bour and I am the Activities Commissioner of the board of SCOPE | FOCUS for the 2016-2017 academic year. I am 21 years old and currently studying International Business Economics with a major in Accounting.
Having never been an active member of SCOPE | FOCUS before now, it has been interesting getting to know the association and its inner workings. I am really impressed with the sense of community and level of dedication which the active members and board show. Seeing this has only increased my personal motivation and drive to pick up where the previous activities commissioners have left off.
As commissioner activities I intend to maintain SCOPE | FOCUS’ reputation for high quality events, while pursuing any previously unexplored opportunities for the association. This will go hand in hand with fostering SCOPE | FOCUS’ greatest asset: the active member community. This community will need to be maintained over the course of the year, starting with the recruitment period in September. As such, my first challenge will be to recruit students who show the same drive and commitment as the current SCOPE | FOCUS actives.
Personally, I look forward to the opportunity to be able to shape the future of SCOPE | FOCUS together with my fellow board members. I am grateful to have been chosen to lead enthusiastic and motivated students in creating high quality events which bridge the gap between the academic and professional world. My hope is that these events will ultimately add to the experience of being a student at the Maastricht University School of Business and Economics.
Concluding, I would like to say that I feel honored to be included in this prestigious group of board members, and that I look forward to playing a key role in leading this association.
