Board

Max van Rooij - Chairman

chairman@scope-focus.nl

My name is Max van Rooij and I am 23 years of age. I will be fulfilling the role of Chairman next to my Master in Finance, which I started in February 2011. After my period abroad at Université Laval in Québec I got the opportunity to organize the congress for SCOPE|FOCUS. While organizing, I realized what an amazing association it is and therefore I applied for a position as chairman. The restructuring of SCOPE had implications for all associations; therefore, we have chosen the theme of cooperation. For the coming year, I made it my goal to cooperate closer with the other associations, the SBE, our sponsors and our actives. On the SCOPE level I would like to see more in-depth coordination. Furthermore, I would to maintain and enhance the relation with the SBE and look where we can improve our operations. Next to that, it is important to ensure closer contact with our sponsors so that we can bring our students closer to the practice. Furthermore, we would like to create more awareness for SIGMA Investments. Finally, I would like to involve the foundation of our association more, our actives, and listen to their propositions and visions. The following year will be an interesting and challenging year where I will do my best to build further on the legacy left from the previous board.

Anne Dieben - Secretary

secretary@scope-focus.nl

My name is Anne Dieben, I am 21 years old and I am from Eindhoven. In September I will start with my Master in Finance. Recently, I came back from my exchange period in Singapore and after a very exciting time travelling and experiencing a very different life than what I was used to, I decided I was up for a new challenge when I got back. I wanted to become more involved, more focused on my future, experience new things and meet new people. In SCOPE|FOCUS I found what I was looking for. I am pleased to fulfill the role of Secretary within SCOPE|FOCUS Board 2011-2012. My main functions will be taking care of the information flow and making sure the contact between SCOPE|FOCUS and its partners is optimal. Besides this, some extra challenges this year are related to the recent restructuring of the study associations of SBE, which require changes in the database and a change in contact with the other associations, in my case the secretary task force in particular. My goal is making sure all communications run smoothly and to execute the restructuring plans successfully, so that it will result in a more efficient information system for SCOPE|FOCUS. I expect the upcoming year will be full of challenges, exciting experiences and most of all a lot of fun! Hope to see you soon!

Nadine Ölmann - Treasurer

My name is Nadine Ölmann and I will be the new Treasurer of the Focus Board 2011/12. I am 23 years old and, currently, I am finishing my Bachelor in International Business. The last six months I have studied at Fundação Getulio Vargas EAESP in Sao Paulo, Brazil, as part of my exchange semester. During this time, I travelled a lot, got to know the Brazilian way of the `easy life´ and met great people who inspired me a great deal. For the last three year, I have been doing my Bachelor studies at Maastricht University with a major in Finance and will continue my studies with a Master of Finance for this upcoming academic year. I wanted to take the opportunity to be part of the SCOPE|FOCUS board to gain some practical experience next to the academic theory and to develop necessary skills for my future career. In addition, I am looking forward to work with a motivated and enthusiastic team to bring SCOPE|FOCUS forward and increase its awareness among all students at SBE. Furthermore, for the next year at SCOPE|FOCUS, I am planning on further developing the relations with German companies to be able to offer students a wider variety of company visits. I believe this will be a great time for all of us with many challenges ahead. However, I think we will have much fun in achieving our goals and I wish us all an amazing time.

Rinaldo Zopfi - Commissioner Activities

activities@scope-focus.nl

My name is Rinaldo Zopfi and I will be the new Commissioner of Activities of SCOPE|FOCUS for the next upcoming academic year. I am 21 years old and lived almost all my life in Kerkrade. I started my Master in IB Finance in February after finishing my bachelor at the SBE. After my exciting study abroad in Lisbon, I decided to shift my focus towards the future. Therefore, I joined SCOPE|FOCUS and became the new operational manager for the Maastricht Finance Day’11. After getting to know SCOPE|FOCUS better, both in a formal and informal manner, I decided to apply for a board position. For the upcoming year I want to build further on the existing foundation of our association, whereby my main aim is to have strong relationships and cooperation between and with our active members, as they are vital for the performance of the association. I am looking forward to this amazing experience and hope to see you soon at one of our events or parties!

Pascalle Smeets - Commissioner External Relations

externalrelations@scope-focus.nl

My name is Pascalle Smeets, I am 21 years old and I will fulfill the position of Commissioner External Relations of SCOPE|FOCUS during academic year 2011-2012. I will start my master in accounting this September. Even though I met a lot of new friends in the past three years and had a great time during my studies and my time abroad in Glasgow, I do not have the feeling that I have experienced everything what is out there yet. Moreover, I am up for a new challenge whereby I will have the opportunity to develop myself, to gain more experience, to meet new people and to work together within a great team. After I came back from Glasgow, I joined the Accounting Orientation Day, the NKD and the Big Four Cycle. These activities were very valuable to me because now I am sure that I really want to study accounting and that I want to continue with the ‘Register Accountant’ program. SCOPE|FOCUS aims to be a good intermediary between students and potential future employers. It is important that we maintain a good relationship with the existing sponsors and try to catch the interest of new sponsors. It is my challenge as Commissioner External Relations to keep our sponsors satisfied, listen to their needs and create an optimal connection between them and the students. It is an honor to be a member of the board and to be part of the association. I am looking forward to the upcoming year and I am convinced that it’s going to be a great one! I hope to see you all soon in the Preuverij.

Jeanine Hurte - Commissioner PR and Magazine

pr@scope-focus.nl

My name is Jeanine Hurte, 23 years old from Berlin in Germany and I am the PR commissioner for the academic year 2011-2012. I am currently doing my Bachelor in International Business Economics and will start my Masters in Controlling after the summer. I spent my semester abroad in Newcastle, Australia and realized when I got back that I am up for a major challenge, which combines a responsible and challenging task while still being in a student environment. For last 2 years I have been already active for SCOPE|FOCUS and helped organizing the Congress and the Maastricht Finance Day. I think that social engagement is what makes societies and communities strong. Being in the board of SCOPE|FOCUS would give me the opportunity to strengthen the community at our university, by organizing social, educational, and professional events, and by doing so, to contribute to the students’ social and academic life. My personal goal as the PR commissioner is to enhance SCOPE|FOCUS’ internal and external relationships by keeping the overall quality of all events and improving students’ awareness for SCOPE|FOCUS. Besides, I attempt to make sure that all active members and future members are having a good time and feel comfortable in the SCOPE|FOCUS environment, since our members put such a big amount of their spare time into SCOPE|FOCUS’ activities. Overall, I hope to be able to bring SCOPE|FOCUS forward, to be able to provide effective services and representation and to always act in the best interest of all members.
